October marks the centennial anniversary* of the Russian Revolution, and Metro DC DSA is out in full force all month long. From townhalls to happy hours to Halloween parties to our local convention, October is a big month for Metro DC DSA, and we invite you to come join us.
* Well, kind of.
Hang out with DSA people and help raise money for our current electoral campaigns! The bar will provide an extended happy hour for attendees. Help show that organized people with small dollar donations can beat organized money.
Suggested donation amount: $25 (Donate via ActBlue)
Everyone is invited to our Healthcare Town Hall sponsored jointly by Metro-DC DSA and NOVA DSA Branch. There will be speaker panels and breakout sessions addressing single payer, reproductive justice, and disability issues.
Join us for our inaugural Marxism 101 course. Unlike our Socialism 101 events, this session will focus specifically on the philosophy of Karl Marx and both its historical and current implications.
Marx was predominantly a theorist of how capitalism worked, not what a future socialist society may look like. In this intro to Marxism, which will strive to be light on jargon, we will focus on how Marxists view capitalism, how capitalist profit is rooted in the exploitation of labor, and how the class struggle is the result of this.
Come spend some time having more fun than you expected canvassing for our current electoral campaign in Virginia! Training is provided, so it’s a great way to get prepared for other canvassing opportunities, too.
Come socialize at DC DSA Grrl’s Night! Join other female-identifying and nonbinary comrades for happy hour and dinner. All ages welcome.
History in the making, folks. Metro DC DSA’s local convention is an opportunity to update our chapter’s bylaws and define a path forward for our ever-growing organization.
Join DC DSA as part of its Red October festivities as we go to the last DC United game at RFK Stadium. Tickets are $25 and we’ll all be seated together. Make sure to wear black and red!
Join us as we relax and enjoy some brews with our brothers and sisters of DC DSA. No agenda, no schedule, no topic, just some good conversation and beer.
